31.10 Berlin to Prague

Dear reader, sorry for the delay, but Im gonna do some serious blogging now!

Once again the "going with the flow" kicks in. I tried to book a bus ticket from Berlin to Prague online, but of course I should have done it a couple of days earlier. I was impossible to do it so close to the journey. "Well, this is nothing new for me" I thought and stuck with my old routine. Wake up in the morning, check out from hostel and hope for the best.
I think its quite strange that in a international bus station the ticket office "sales rep." dont speak English. So after a few hand gestures and some written numbers for me to understand the price of the ticket, I found my self in a situation that Im leaving Berlin in a few hours. Just enough time to have the last Döner Kebab (4,5€ with Coke, I love Germany). Next to the Kebab joint was internet cafe and I decided to do some research about Prague! Yes, believe it or not, but I booked the hostel in Prague in advance...

The bus left Berlin 15.00 and was to be in Prague 19.30. So once again I realize that Im gonna arrive to my next destination when its dark and tourist informations are closed. It means no free map or advices.

Praises to the modern technology! Theres Wi-Fi in the bus and I still had one bar of energy in my mobile. Of course only one just to make it a bit more interesting for me. I manage to write down the instructions before my mobile dies. I feel like a winner!

Next things is to get some Czech money. I go to ATM and pull some korunas from the wall. Next I head to the metro station and try to purchase a ticket. 30 minutes ticket is 24 korunas, and I have now 2000 korunas (80€) note in my hand...this is not gonna work, and not just only because ticket vending machine only operates with coins... What to do? Ask, ask, ask. rule number one when traveling.
There is a info booth in the metro station. After a brief conversation in, I guess it was Czech, Im in the same situation as before, since I didnt understand a word.
Ave! A grocery store! That could work. So the first thing I by in Prague is a banana worth 15 korunas or something. I go to the cash desk with a big "supposed to be sorry for my big note" grin and it works. The cashier nods her head just to say "its ok, youre not the first tourist here to change money. At least you had the courtesy to by a banana". Some change I got now (Yoda English)

Best check in ever in the hostel (Sir Tobys Hostel, loved it). It took me about 40 minutes to check in just because I got so much info about the city. Thanks Richard! And some times christmas comes early. hence there was some overbooking I got upgraded to a double room and I was there alone! Felt like the honey moon suite after all those 14 bed dorms. Happy days! Also got a 5 days public transportation card for half the price. Thank you Richard one more time.
